I am thrilled to share the exciting news that I have been honored with an award at the 2024 ASID NJ Design Excellence Awards! As an interior design student, this achievement is a significant milestone in my career and a testament to my dedication, creativity, and passion for design. I wanted to give you an inside look at the award-winning project that garnered this recognition and share some insights into my design process.

The Award-Winning Design

Barrier-Free

My project (Barrier-Free), a modern contemporary space, was recognized for its innovative approach and stunning aesthetics. The design features a balance of wood, black, gold, and green, creating a harmonious and inviting atmosphere. The centerpiece of the design is a breathtaking onyx wall, complemented by sleek metal arch railings and a curated selection of modern decor elements.

The dining area showcases a perfect blend of functionality and style, with a geometric pattern rug, elegant dining chairs, and a sculptural chandelier that adds a touch of sophistication. The large windows flood the space with natural light, enhancing the overall ambiance and highlighting the intricate details of the design.

The Design Process

Creating this award-winning space was a journey that involved meticulous planning and a keen eye for detail. Here’s a glimpse into my design process:

1. Inspiration & Research: I started with extensive research to understand the latest trends and gather inspiration. The goal was to create a space that is both contemporary and timeless.

2. Concept Development: I developed a concept that emphasized balance and harmony, using a palette of natural materials and earthy tones to create a warm and inviting atmosphere.

3. Design Boards & Space Planning: Creating detailed design boards helped in visualizing the space and ensuring that all elements worked together cohesively. Space planning was crucial to maximize functionality and flow.

4. Material & Color Selection: Selecting the right materials and colors was key to achieving the desired look and feel. I chose high-quality materials like onyx, wood, and metal, and a color palette that included black, gold, and green accents.

5. Technical Specs & Renderings: Detailed floor plans and realistic 3D renderings were essential in bringing the vision to life and ensuring that every detail was perfect.

6. Installation & Finishing Touches: The final stage involved meticulous finishing touches to enhance the overall design. Attention to detail was paramount to achieving the perfect balance of form and function.
